WHO IS MR. SOL P. DIAZ SR.?

“The value of life lies not in the length of days but in the use we make of them. A man may live long, yet get little from life. Whether you find satisfaction in life depends not on your tale of years, but on your will.” MONTAIGNE... The late Mr. Sol P. Diaz Sr. of Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte was born on July 3, 1945 and he passed by last March 30, 2010 because of a cardiac arrest at the age of sixty-four. His loving wife named, Myrna Diaz their children Eric, Erwin, Jay-Arh, Marish and Manette. Their grandchildren, Mamai, Cacai, Haddy, Jaja, Jing-jing, Jayden, Joellian and Thirdy. There are four aspects to know who Mr. Sol P. Diaz Sr. as a Father is; he was really a responsible man. He did not only provide to his children a fish to eat but instead he taught them on how to fish. Those are the basic things that he gave them. He provided his children the skills and potentials on how to live with life, how to deal with people, and most especially on how to live a descent life. He was appreciated most about those things in which he provided as much as possible, he do not want his children to suffer from poverty or nothing, as much as possible he always have a sources of living from the eldest up to the youngest. Lately the only thing that he wanted most and he dreamed for, was his youngest daughter named Manette to finish high school. He worried to her because unlike with the younger siblings they had already the skills and sources of living but unfortunately he did not able to wait it. As a father he was able to provide the demand of their lives. He was really a good father of the family. As a member of the community, Mr. Sol had contributed much to the community. If there was an assignment given to him from the Local Government Unit, he would really make it sure to performed it well, “dili jud katulgan” as his daughter Marish uttered during the interview. Another thing, Mr. Sol P. Diaz Sr. was very well- respected, from his name, dignity and as a person. As a husband, he was very loyal to his wife even before that he expressed to his wife that if God will get him, he do not want other people to serve him even his family. Proven as a man with principle and sacrificed a not only to his family but also to other people. As an administrator of an academic institution, he served eighteen years as a principal of Saint Francis Xavier Academy. He performed it well and dedicated his life even to the last minute of his life, he dedicated it to the said institution. His proudest moment was the demand of the school president, Msgr. Galledo really asked him to stay not like the other administrators in which they mentioned that they can do so much about the school but unlike Mr. Diaz Sr. that., “you can do so much from the school” Msgr. Galledo said. The day that he culminated the golden jubilee in the church, it showed how potential he is and nobody can replaced him. He left a legacy to Saint Francis Xavier Academy and it could be very difficult to the next administrator for the school to surpass his achievement to the school. Being a good principal and a good example to students. No intrigues against him. He taught quality education and produced quality graduates which are very useful to the community. With regards to his educational attainment and experienced, Mr. Sol P. Diaz, grew without parents because his mother died when he was a four years old and at the age of five his father followed. He was a working student, a shoe shine boy, and also a newspaper boy. His college years, was at Immaculate Conception College Ozamiz City also a working student. He spent time of resting through reading and studying at the library. As early as nineteen years old he became an instructor at Iligan Capitol College, Iligan City. After that he became a supervisor at Johnsons and Johnsons Company. He took up Masters Degree but he was not able to finish because of financial constraint. But he really has the wisdom and intellect to manage and to handle an academic institution. He served as Lieutenant Colonel in the military and lastly as school principal at Saint Francis Xavier Academy within eighteen years. In his old age attributes, he was still an intelligent man. He asked questions to those things which were unfamiliar to him, he read books and surfed the internet. He was also submissive to others who want to teach him and he never underestimated those young at age compared to him but he was very open-minded to new learning’s and valued opinion to younger generations. Mr. Sol communicated people with sense. Concluded that he was a well-determined and well-principled person.

ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT 2nd Semester S.Y. 2009-2010

As God gives me for the second time around to serve the college and to all the students, members of the organization and ever supportive adviser, co-officers who trust in me to do the task. Thank you. Being a leader you must be ready to serve and be willing to accept responsibilities. I did not expect to be elected as an officer in this academic organization of the Junior Business Executive. Officer must be patient and excellent enough to pursue in leading the students and to bring them an honor to the college. As part of my priorities aside from burning my midnight candle, sleepless nights, sweats and tiredness, It is my great privileged to serve. As a contrast, to be an inspiring leader you do not have to be the smartest, or even if it makes you temporarily unpopular. Leadership doesn’t mean winning popularity contest. Leadership is not merely a position, but it is an action which measures your capacity to lead. Perhaps, conflicts and misunderstandings may positively come because of the different intellectual upbringings of the students. But those were an ingredients to achieve one’s goal and part of growing-up to be molded and enhanced individual skills. Various activities and competitions challenge me to deal with others to the best of my ability, with the goal of considering the welfare of the other students and the institution as well. I may not be an expert enough but with the title of being an officer I discovered myself that I have the talent and uniqueness toward the others, to achieve something new that shows an honor to me and to the organization. Elected as Social Manager, Director of Media Publication and Documentation, and a coordinator of the community extension program of the College of Business and Management representing the said organization, is quite complicated. However, I’m afraid because time will be divided and absolutely it will greatly affect my academic performance. It is not easy because it needs alertness and enthusiasm especially time management. To acquire information in whatever events that the organization accomplished, it must be accurate and reliable. Commitment is the vital word of Leadership. Among the activities of the second semester were the following: first was the spiritual gathering participated by the various academic organizations within the College of Business and Management. Students were very eager as they cooperated the said activity that was facilitated by the JBE Officers. As included in the program of activities within the semester. It followed by the other activity namely, the student Christmas Party held at the covered court where, we the JBE Officers with the adviser have the exchanging gift. For me, that was a happy moment where the 4th year batch bonded and acquaints each other. Students were good looking in their different casual wears. In the Outreach Programs, as the coordinator of the community extension program of the CBM Department, I was been challenged to do my part of the said activity. At first, I lost my self-confidence to deal the said position but later I realized that I must be flexible enough and be able to manage my time because from time to time I am called for a different meetings. In which Outreach Programs were held outside the University. MURSO Festival I am quite passive since I am leading also to the other organization within the campus. But I participate also to the activity and that was my first time to join a monologue contest inside the university. College Day with the Tribute to Teachers. This activity in which I was surprise to the following certificates that I received, to the different positions that I deal with. During officer’s meeting I am habitually called to lead a prayer. Although I felt tired of those different activities especially at the time of our preparations, but I learned the camaraderie, friendship and the real meaning of leadership. That was very interesting and unforgettable experienced of my college life. I never regret even if how busy myself is, because I learned and I gained additional knowledge as part of my inspiration. This helps me to develop my skills and build self-confidence as media practitioners that I practice not only in the public but also to my college. And it was proven through the documentations that I made. My heartfelt thanks and gratitude for those who trust me to do my task. To my co-officers, to our ever supportive adviser Ma’am Emie Dungog who correct my mistakes and most especially to our Heavenly Father who gave everything, and who keep me firm and strong and a determination to success. May God bless and Mabuhay!
