LANAO DEL NORTE COOPS CONDUCT TREE PLANTING
Tubod, Lanao del Norte-In celebrating the Cooperative Month in October under the theme: “One Cooperative Movement, One Vision, One Nation: Bagong Batas, Bagong Sigla sa Kooperatiba,” cooperatives around the province conducted a tree planting activity signifying their unity and responding to the call of our nation to protect mother nature at Barangay Caromatan, Kolambugan, this province.
The activity is organized by the Provincial Cooperative Office headed by Mr. Rodrigo S. Gamit in coordination with the Provincial Cooperative Development Council members and officers, PCDC Chairman and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Chairman for the Committee on Cooperatives Honorable Robert O. Matalines, Mayor Bertrand M. Lumaque and Department of Trades and Industry.
4000 pieces of propagules were sponsored by the Local Government Unit of Kolambugan, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), ECOWEB and other planting materials were from the Federation of Cooperatives in Kolambugan.
More than 300 cooperative members and guests participated in the said activity.
Lending their hands are Maranding Women Investors Multi-purpose Cooperative (MWIMPC), Lala Department of Agriculture Cooperative, BILLMAG, KODEMCO, Baybay Small Scale Fishermen Multi-purpose Cooperative, Caromatan Mangrove Growers, Caromatan Fisherfolks and Farmers Multi-purpose Cooperative (CAFIFAMPCO), Libertad Fishermen, Pag-amuma Kulasihan, Palao Women’s Organization, Mangrove Fishermen Multi-purpose Cooperative, Simbuco Aquamarine Multi-purpose Cooperative, PNP Ladies Multi-purpose Cooperative, San Roque Heights Farmers’ Association, LASGROW, Lanao Comrades Multi-purpose Cooperative (LANCOM), FICCO, LAFFCOD, PASAKA and Golden Arrow Vision Of Life Foundation Inc.
“This activity hinders the effect of global warming and one way of improving our environment especially caring for Panguil Bay in which mangroves are slowly dying,” said Mr. Nerio B. Piola, BFAR OIC in Lanao del Norte.
The apparent devastating effects of global warming and climate change as experienced in Luzon, led these organizations to make it a responsibility the preservation of the beauty and bounty the province is blessed with.
